Albrecht Schnider’s stylized hilly landscape, created in Brussels, is one of the constants in his artistic work. His landscape depictions range from representational compositions, largely emptied of concrete objects, to abstract pictorial inventions. At the center of his interest is less the landscape motif itself than painting as such and its formal possibilities. With his reduced landscape images, Schnider creates timeless pictorial spaces. The deliberately employed emptiness opens up space for personal associations and invites viewers to supplement what is depicted with their own ideas and thoughts.

Albrecht Schniders in Brüssel entstandene stilisierte Hügellandschaft gehört zu den Konstanten seines künstlerischen Schaffens. Seine Landschaftsdarstellungen reichen von gegenständlichen, weitgehend von konkreten Dingen entleerten Kompositionen bis hin zu abstrakten Bildfindungen. Im Zentrum seines Interesses steht dabei weniger das Landschaftsmotiv als die Malerei selbst und ihre formalen Möglichkeiten. Mit seinen reduzierten Landschaftsbildern schafft Schnider zeitlose Bildräume. Die bewusst eingesetzte Leere eröffnet Raum für eigene Assoziationen und lädt die Betrachtenden dazu ein, das Dargestellte mit ihren eigenen Vorstellungen und Gedanken zu ergänzen.
