Sheet slightly yellowed and somewhat foxed, small paper loss at the lower edge in the centre, traces of old mounting on the reverse. In very good condition
Living in seclusion at Schloss Zwickledt in Upper Austria, Alfred Kubin is distinguished in his painting by a distinctly personal artistic style. The work of this artist, graphic artist, and illustrator is often marked by a dark visual language that addresses fear, transience, death, and the unconscious. In our sheet, the artist's interest was directly focused on the further development of his style and his drawing technique. The figure of the dancer with the halo-like headdress impresses with the cleverly placed and detailed ink lines as well as the subtly applied colouration with watercolours. Both lend the scene sensuality, dynamism, and beauty.

In sehr guter Erhaltung
