Minimal lightstruck area and traces of old mounting on the reverse. Very fine impression with burr in excellent condition

Comments

James Hofmaier is aware of only six trial proofs of the second state in total, to which the present example can now be added. For the first state, Hofmaier knows of only four trial proofs. Extremely rare in such excellent overall quality. The edition of this sheet appeared as sheet 7 from the series „Jahrmarkt“, published in 1922 in Munich by the Marées Gesellschaft, R. Piper & Co. On the carousel, Beckmann depicts himself together with his wife Minna (wearing a hat).

Erläuterungen

James Hofmaier sind gesamthaft nur sechs Probedrucke des II. Zustandes bekannt geworden, wozu sich nun noch das vorliegende Exemplar gesellt. Vom I. Zustand sind Hofmaier nur vier Probedrucke bekannt. In so ausgezeichneter Gesamtqualität äusserst selten. Die Auflage dieses Blattes erschien als Blatt 7 der Folge "Jahrmarkt", 1922 in München publiziert vom Verlag der Marées Gesellschaft, R. Piper & Co. Auf dem Karussell stellt sich Beckmann selbst dar, zusammen mit seiner Frau Minna (mit Hut).
