    Comments

Flower paintings occupy a significant place in Augusto Giacometti’s oeuvre. Floral motifs were particularly well suited to exploring the interplay of colours—a continually central concern of the artist. The present work shows two stylishly arranged roses—one bluish-white, the second orange-yellow—unfolding against a bluish, pink, and violet background. The composition is characterized throughout by a delicate palette with subtle, flowing transitions.
