On new stretcher. Some small spots, mostly water stains. In very fine overall condition
After the First World War, Robert Delaunay and his wife, the artist Sonia Delaunay-Terk, returned to Paris in the early 1920s and moved into an apartment at 19 Boulevard Malesherbes. In Paris, they mingled with many poets and musicians and came into contact with Surrealism. They were friends with Louis Aragon, Jean Cocteau, and Igor Stravinsky, and also hosted the Russian poet Vladimir Mayakovsky. Delaunay had already discovered portraiture as a new form while in exile in Portugal and brought it to maturity in Paris by painting friends and his social circle.
The painting of Igor Stravinsky offered here is certainly among the most impressive of these portraits. The musician is unmistakably depicted, composed with simple brushstrokes.

Auf neuem Chassis. Einige Fleckchen, meist Wasserfleckchen. In sehr schöner Gesamterhaltung
