The present sculpture "La table" by Miquel Barceló is distinguished by its strikingly structured, relief-like surface, reminiscent of the characteristic formal language of his ceramics. Its pronounced tactile quality points to Barceló's intensive engagement with organic forms as well as the mutability of matter. "La table" is among the artist's particularly expressive sculptural works and, typical for Barceló's sculptural oeuvre, was created in a small edition. The Spanish artist enjoys international recognition, especially for his monumental projects. Among his most important works are the spectacular design of the dome of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva and the ceramic decoration of the chapel in the cathedral of Palma de Mallorca.

Die vorliegende Plastik "La table" von Miquel Barceló zeichnet sich durch ihre markant strukturierte, reliefartige Oberfläche aus, die an die charakteristische Formsprache seiner Keramiken erinnert. Ihre ausgeprägte haptische Qualität verweist auf Barcelós intensive Auseinandersetzung mit organischen Formen sowie der Wandelbarkeit von Materie. "La table" zählt zu den besonders ausdrucksstarken plastischen Arbeiten des Künstlers und entstand, typisch für Barcelós plastisches Œuvre, in einer kleinen Auflage. Der spanische Künstler geniesst internationale Anerkennung, insbesondere für seine monumentalen Projekte. Zu seinen bedeutendsten Werken gehören die spektakuläre Gestaltung der Kuppel des UNO-Menschenrechtsrats in Genf sowie die keramische Ausstattung der Kapelle in der Kathedrale von Palma de Mallorca.
