Lower right monogrammed and dated by the artist "CA / 19"
Online catalogue raisonné Cuno Amiet of the Swiss Institute for Art Research, Zurich, no. 1919.60
Directly from the artist to the family of the present owner
On the original stretcher, in the old nailing. At the top in the centre with a few craquelures in the sky. In very good and fresh condition
Cuno Amiet places the horizon high and gives ample space to the summery fields framed on the sides by trees and bushes.
The striped landscape gives the viewer the feeling of a hilly environment, such as can be found around Oschwand. In the background, one can probably make out the houses of the small hamlet among the trees, where Amiet lived with his wife Anna from 1908 onward. Through the extensive use of light and pastel tones, the atmosphere of a summer's day is conveyed.
