    Comments

The interesting landscape drawing was probably created during a stay by Giacometti in Capolago near Maloja between 1942 and 1944, when he was living in Geneva during the war years. The Giacometti family inherited a spacious summer house in 1905, to which a large studio was later added. After the death of his father Giovanni in 1933, Alberto regularly used this place to work. The drawing is considered one of several models for the lithograph "Le Lac de Sils et le Piz Corvatsch depuis la maison des Giacometti à Maloja" (Kornfeld/FAAG 217), created in 1957 and published in 1958.
