Verso with remnants of an old museum mounting. In very good condition
The present drawing was probably created in the summer of 1923 during a stay at Cap d'Antibes as a preparatory work for the important neoclassical painting "La flûte de Pan" (now in the collection of the Musée Picasso, Paris, Zervos V, 141).
Picasso sketched the main figure with powerful, precise strokes, with hatching modeling the plastic forms. The separate studies of hands and feet document Picasso's systematic exploration of anatomical details and are likely related to the drawing of a classical figure (cf. Zervos V, 107).
This work was created during Picasso's neoclassical phase in the early 1920s, when he engaged intensively with ancient models and monumental figure representations. Stylistically, the study shows his return to figurative representation and classical drawing technique.

Rückseitig mit Resten einer alten Museumsmontierung. In sehr guter Erhaltung
