Strong impression. Throughout with pale brown stains. On the reverse, narrow adhesive tape remnants from old mounting all around. Untreated
The plate was created in 1477, freely based on the composition by Master ES „Die Madonna with dem Rosen spendenden Engel“, Lehrs 80, by a „Wolfgangus aurifaber“ for a „Ludovicus abbas anno domini 1477“ and was probably used as a tombstone for Abbot Ludwig of St. Lucian in Churwalden. There, at the end of the 18th century, it was acquired and newly printed by the art dealer Hertel. In 1857, the plate entered the Kupferstichkabinett in Berlin; no early impressions are known.

Kräftiger Druck. Durchgehend blass braunfleckig. Rückseitig umlaufend schmale Klebebandreste von alter Montierung. Unbehandelt
