Der Apfelbaum' shows a lush apple tree. It serves as a symbol for life, fertility and the cycle of the year (see also lot 845). Without a narrative context, the image becomes a contemplative portrayal of nature, existing somewhere between reality and inner projection.
The sheet was printed at Lassally in Berlin in a small edition.
