Christof Yvoré's painting shows three strongly modelled plant forms reminiscent of opened poppy capsules. They may be opium poppies, that ambivalent plant between beauty, transience, and intoxication. The opened capsules appear like relics, and their jagged edges bring a quiet tension to the picture. Set against the light, primed, impasto background, they stand out in a sculptural way—not as botanical detail, but as signs of silent significance.
Yvoré, in his reduced and deliberately restrained visual language, draws on the tradition of still life. Yet his approach remains entirely his own. The calm composition, the muted tones, and the almost meditative presence of the objects inevitably evoke memories of Giorgio Morandi. For Yvoré, too, it is not about the things themselves, but about their quiet appearance in space, about the poetry of simplicity.
With a language that seems almost archaic, the work moves between representational depiction and abstract suggestion. It is an exemplary example of Yvoré's artistic thinking, which repeatedly engages with the question of how images arise from memory, perception, and material presence.

Auf dem originalen Chassis. In sehr schöner Erhaltung
