During these years, his artistic work was limited and he turned mainly to the medium of wood. "Dünen und Mole" thematically continues the woodcuts of 1913 and 1914, which depict the bay and fishing boats of Nidden. Hyperion Verlag in Munich published an edition of 100 copies in 1923, printed by Fritz Voigt in Berlin.
