On the backing board of the frame with the artist's label, signed and titled "Marokko". Upper right in pencil again signed and with the title "gelbe Dächer, Marokko".

Slightly faded, otherwise in good condition
According to Jean-Christoph Ammann, the present watercolour belongs to the fourth period in the work of Louis Moilliet. After 1936, he no longer created new watercolours, but instead reworked numerous earlier compositions. This could explain the date of 1944. The village view with the various houses and roofs can actually be classified in the artist's work more in the Spanish Caldetas than in Morocco.

Oben rechts vom Künstler signiert und datiert "LMoilliet / 1944". Rückseitig auf der Unterlage bezeichnet und signiert "Nordspanien I / LMoilliet". Auf dem Rückenkarton des Rahmens mit Etikett des Künstlers, signiert und betitelt "Marokko". Oben rechts in Bleistift nochmals signiert und mit dem Titel "gelbe Dächer, Marokko".

Laut Jean-Christoph Ammann gehört das vorliegende Aquarell zur vierten Periode im Schaffen Louis Moilliets. Nach 1936 habe er keine neuen Aquarelle mehr geschaffen, sondern zahlreiche frühere Kompositionen überarbeitet. Dies könnte eine Erklärung für das Datum von 1944 sein. Die Dorfansicht mit den verschiedenen Häusern und Dächern lässt sich im Schaffen des Künstlers tatsächlich eher im spanischen Caldetas als in Marokko einordnen.
