Since 1907, Tunisia was a popular travel destination for the artist, to which he returned repeatedly over the decades. Particularly noteworthy is the visit in April 1914, when he traveled the country together with his artist colleagues Paul Klee and August Macke. All three artists were inspired by this journey, which was significant for art history. In March 1929, Moilliet probably visited Tunis for the last time. The present sheet was created during this stay.
