Comments

Paul Klee engaged with ships and harbor motifs several times in his work. In our sheet, steamships and boats lie side by side and are depicted in the typically reduced formal language characteristic of Klee. The finely engraved print beautifully presents a tranquil scene by the water. Very rare, only three impressions are known, one of which is in the Zentrum Paul Klee in Bern. The sheet was printed by the printer Heinrich Wetteroth in Munich.
