Paper laid down on a larger sheet and provided with a water-coloured border, in impeccable condition
This watercolour may be an unused study for the book "Vacances d'Artistes". Giacometti created it when, at the end of May/beginning of June 1907 and again towards the end of July/beginning of August, he travelled with the author Daniel Baud-Bovy by bicycle and on foot in Ticino and neighbouring northern Italy to make studies for the publication. This assumption is supported by the sheet size as well as by the drawing on the reverse of the sheet: it is a pencil study of the view of Carona, which served as the basis for the lithograph in the publication "Vacances d'Artistes" from 1909 (see Stauffer A/72).

Stauffer A/72).
