    Comments

During the summer months, Giovanni and Annetta Giacometti-Stampa spent time with their four children Alberto, Diego, Ottilia, and Bruno in their house in Capolago near Maloja. During these stays, Giovanni Giacometti would sometimes capture the blooming meadows and the lush green alpine pastures in the summer grazing area of the Bergell farmers in vibrant colours. Giacometti was able to render the beauty of the high valley with its varied lake landscape and its impressive mountain backdrop in manifold and fascinating ways, often under clear, radiant light conditions, as this sheet demonstrates. Our watercolour shows the view across Lake Sils towards Maloja.
