The Japan paper mounted along the edge on light cardboard, with free reverse. The paper slightly creased. The light monotype reworked with watercolour in rich colours
The sheet was created during Paul Gauguin's stay in France from August 1893 to February 1895, between his two stays in the South Seas. From April to December 1894, Gauguin stayed in Pont-Aven and in Le Pouldu in Brittany, accompanied by the Javanese woman Anna.
