    Comments

The 'Infinity Field' series was created in the later creative period of the American painter Theodoros Stamos, who was of Greek descent. During this time, he became increasingly interested in the idea of the transcendent and meditative. The addition 'Lefkada' refers to the Greek island that played a central role in Stamos' life and artistic identity, serving as both a place of personal roots and a spiritual source. The visual language of these works is minimalist yet never empty: it thrives on the tension between surface, structure and spatial depth.

Rendered in luminous red, this large-format painting immediately captivates the viewer. The rectangular block of colour in the centre appears to float above the vibrant red ground, its slightly irregular edges defined by softly flowing lines. The shades of red within this central field vary subtly, from velvety dark red to almost violet hues, giving the work a quiet, almost meditative depth. Two irregular, horizontal lines in a lighter shade of red traverse the pictorial field like traces or waves, suggesting a landscape, a horizon or a spiritual dividing line.
