With minimal lightstruck area. In the centre of the sheet with former horizontal fold, supported with Japan paper for stabilisation. In very good condition
This is one of the few large-format drawings in Giacometti's oeuvre. The generous composition depicts an opulent still life on a table: two apples in a bowl, a carafe, a bottle with glasses, a coffee pot, a milk jug, a sugar bowl and coffee cups. On the subject of drawing a still life, the artist said: ‘When I’m working, I never think about expressing myself. I tell myself: draw this cup. Just the cup. And then it so happens that is my cup, after all.’ (in: Hohl 1987, p. 174).

In sehr guter Erhaltung
(In: Hohl 1987, S. 174).
