The present work is one of the artist's rare brush drawings in oil on paper, a technique he had been using since 1946. A drawing in red oil paint with a similar motif, a figure in profile striding to the right, is now in the collection of the Fondation Alberto et Annette Giacometti in Paris (no. AGD 1217). On the reverse there is a cropped pencil drawing depicting the right side of a head.

Die vorliegende Arbeit ist eine der seltenen Pinselzeichnungen in Öl auf Papier, eine Technik, die der Künstler ab 1946 anwendet. Eine auch in roter Ölfarbe ausgeführte Zeichnung mit ähnlichem Motiv, einer nach rechts schreitenden Figur im Profil, befindet sich heute in der Sammlung der Fondation Alberto et Annette Giacometti in Paris (Nr. AGD 1217). Rückseitig findet sich eine angeschnittene Bleistiftzeichnung, auf der die rechte Hälfte eines Kopfes zu sehen ist.
