This work belongs to a large group of drawings depicting the Baptism of Christ, now scattered across a large number of public and private collections, thirteen of which are in the Stuttgart Cabinet. They are related to a painting by Domenico in the Museo Stibbert in Florence and are dated by George Knox to around 1770.

Das Blatt gehört zu einer umfangreichen Gruppe von Zeichnungen, die die Taufe Christi darstellen und heute über eine Vielzahl von öffentlichen und privaten Sammlungen zerstreut sind, dreizehn davon im Stuttgarter Kabinett. Sie stehen mit einem Gemälde Domenicos im Museo Stibbert in Florenz in Zusammenhang und werden von George Knox auf ca. 1770 datiert.
