    Comments

Arnold Houbraken already considered Jacobus to be a brother of the marine painter Abraham Storck. According to the RKD, he was a son of Johannes Sturckenburgh, also a marine painter. Abraham and Johannes Storck were his two brothers. He specialised in river views and his seascapes are set inland rather than on the high seas. This also applies to the charming scenery of this sheet.
