Comments

From 1937, Alfred Otto Wolfgang Schulze used the pseudonym "Wols" in Paris. As a German, he was interned after the outbreak of the Second World War. During his internment, he created numerous surrealistic drawings and watercolours, including the sheet offered here, an exciting composition in delicate colours.

Erläuterungen

Ab 1937 verwendete Alfred Otto Wolfgang Schulze in Paris das Pseudonym "Wols". Als Deutscher wurde er nach Ausbruch des Zweiten Weltkrieges interniert. Während der Internierungszeit entstanden zahlreiche surrealistisch anmutende Zeichnungen und Aquarelle, darunter auch das hier angebotene Blatt, eine spannende Komposition in zarter Farbigkeit.
