Some rubbing in the margins, loss of colour and some craquelures, especially in the lower right corner of the image. In good overall condition
From 1929 onwards, masks appeared in Jean Pougny's works, of which there are two types: a voluminous white one that covers the entire face and a mask in the form of a simple black figure of eight. As self-portraits of the artist are virtually absent, Pougny scholars assume that these images of masks are in fact substitute self-portraits. Here is a beautifully composed version as a harlequin.

Etwas Abreibungen an den Rändern, Farbverluste und teilweise Krakelüren, vor allem in der unteren rechten Bildecke. In guter Gesamterhaltung
Ab 1929 tauchten in Jean Pougnys Werken Masken auf, von denen es zwei Arten gibt: eine voluminöse weisse, die das gesamte Gesicht bedeckt, und eine Maske in Form einer einfachen schwarzen Acht. Da Selbstbildnisse des Künstlers so gut wie fehlen, geht die Pougny-Forschung davon aus, dass es sich bei diesen Maskenbildern quasi um Ersatz-Selbstporträts handelt. Hier eine sehr schön komponierte Fassung als Harlekin.
