Pablo Picasso had originally scratched the motif into a zinc plate in order to print an etching. However, zinc was not suitable as a printing medium, so the artist changed his mind and printed the zinc as a lithograph - now in negative. The sheet shows Picasso's innovative skills in printmaking.

Erläuterungen

Pablo Picasso hatte das Motiv ursprünglich in eine Zinkplatte geritzt, um daraus eine Radierung zu drucken. Zink eignete sich jedoch nicht als Druckträger, sodass der Künstler umdisponierte und das Zink als Lithographie - nun im Negativ - abgedruckte. Das Blatt zeigt Picassos Innovationskraft in der Druckgraphik.
