The artist's favourite tree was the fir. An expression of this can be found in the present drawing, to which Meyer attached great importance, as the fir trees are arranged in a pyramid shape. The theme of the order of the fir trees and the mention of the golden ratio in the text indicate an early date of around 1910. However, the artist's handwritten addition refers to drawings from the 1920s, in which such additions occur (from: Dieter Schwarz [ed.], exhibition catalogue Winterthur, Otto Meyer-Amden, Das Frühwerk 1903-1914, Zurich 2015, p. 33 and p. 217f.).
