    Comments

Ursel Berger includes the present small sculpture among the so-called Vollard editions. At the suggestion of Ambroise Vollard, Aristide Maillol created a series of figures after 1900, which he sold with all rights to his dealer. Vollard then issued unlimited editions of these figures. The casting technique of our figure is similar to that of many Godard bronzes. A bridge on the underside is particularly typical. The Maillol-Vollard bronzes were produced exclusively by the Florentin Godard foundry from 1907 and 1909 onwards.
