Comments

The watercolour is a study for the oil painting "Turm des Verlagshauses, Der Bund" (Müller/Radlach 1922.06) and the woodcut "Das Verlagshaus, Der Bund, in Bern" (Stauffer 44). From 1909 to 1911, architects Eduard Rybi and Ernst Salchli built the "Bund" building at Effingerstrasse 1-3 for the newspaper and printing company. The tower is its monumental finale.

Originalstock, GIOV. GIACOMETTI", numbered "22/30" in the centre of the stamp, posthumous edition of 30 copies from 1964 - 2 sheets together

Erläuterungen

Das Aquarell ist eine Studie zum Ölgemälde "Turm des Verlagshauses, Der Bund" (Müller/Radlach 1922.06) und zum Holzschnitt "Das Verlagshaus, Der Bund, in Bern" (Stauffer 44). Von 1909 bis 1911 wurde an der Effingerstrasse 1-3 das "Bund"-Haus von den Architekten Eduard Rybi und Ernst Salchli für Zeitung und Druckerei erstellt. Der Turm ist dessen monumentaler Abschluss.
