Paper mounted on a larger sheet and with a watercolour borderline, in impeccable condition
This watercolour could be an unused study for the book "Vacances d'Artistes", created when Giacometti and the author Daniel Baud-Bovy were travelling by bicycle and on foot in Ticino and neighbouring northern Italy at the end of May/beginning of June 1907 and again at the end of July/beginning of August, making studies for this publication. This assumption is supported by the size of the sheet and the study on the reverse of the sheet: it is a study in pencil of the view of Carona, which served as the basis for the lithograph in the 1909 publication "Vacances d'Artistes" (cf. Stauffer A/72).

Stauffer A/72).
