    Comments

The edition of 100 numbered copies was published in "L'Estampe originale", part VI, 2nd year, issue April/June 1894 by André Marty, Paris. Gauguin probably created the sheet as a commission for André Marty, shortly before March 1894 in Paris in memory of his first stay in the South Seas. The subject is related to the oil painting from 1892, now in the Albright Knox Gallery in Buffalo.
