    Comments

Typical work by the French painter, sculptor and conceptual artist who became known for his interventions - covering high-gloss objects and everyday objects with thickly applied paint: in the present work, a layer of acrylic applied with a broad brush covers the engine bonnet of a "MINI", which, like the object itself, is finished in a shade of blue. Since the 1960s, Lavier, who was influenced by Marcel Duchamp's "ready-mades" and the art movement "Nouveau réalisme", has been concerned with the relationship between art and everyday life, high culture and pop culture, and manages to break our visual habits with a humorous gesture: the logo, for example, is executed in the same colours as the original logo of the car brand of the time. However, the artist has used his monogram instead of two blue trapezoids

    Sans titre (MINI)

    Um 1985

    Acryl auf Motorhaube

    110/73x72x20 cm

Im Logo der Automarke mit dem Monogramm "L" im Rund

    Provenienz

Geschenk des Künstlers (1985) an Privatsammlung Schweiz

    Zustand
