    Comments

In autumn 1947, Picasso left Paris and settled on the Mediterranean in Golfe-Juan near Vallauris. From there it was only a few kilometres to the Madoura studio of the ceramist Suzanne Ramié. He worked there every afternoon on various ceramic projects. Numerous faunges were created. Mourlot brought him zinc plates in March 1948 for the completion of the illustration of the book "Le chant des morts". On the remaining plates, Picasso created a small series of six faun faces and an owl in one day. - One of the few artist's copies outside the edition of 50
