    On wove paper (papier vélin), with watermark "MBM / J PERRIGOT", in perfect impression and clean condition. Lower right corner with a slight crease. Few studio traces. With mounting remnants on the reverse side

    Comments

    After his first experiences with the technique of graphic art in Berlin, Marc Chagall contacted the publisher Ambroise Vollard after his move to Paris, who commissioned him shortly afterwards with several lllustration works and already in 1924 brought out the sheet "Le violon" (Kornfeld 40), printed by Louis Fort. Chagall also commissioned Louis Fort to print the present sheet, but published it himself.

    Auf Velin, mit Wasserzeichen "MBM / J PERRIGOT", in tadelloser Druckqualität und sauber in der Erhaltung. Die rechte untere Ecke mit leichtem Knick. Wenige Atelierspuren. Rückseitig mit Montierungsresten

    Erläuterungen

    Nach den ersten Erfahrungen mit der Technik der Graphik in Berlin nahm Marc Chagall nach seiner Übersiedlung nach Paris Kontakt mit dem Verleger Ambroise Vollard auf, der ihn kurz darauf mit mehreren lllustrationswerken beauftragte und schon 1924 das Blatt "Le violon" (Kornfeld 40) herausbrachte, gedruckt von Louis Fort. Chagall beauftragte Louis Fort ebenfalls mit dem Druck des vorliegenden Blattes, brachte es jedoch im Eigenverlag heraus
