On cardboard, browned and slightly foxed. In good and stable condition
Shortly after Easter 1903, when Amiet had given the Miller couple a small profile portrait of Oscar Miller (Müller/Radlach 1903.03), Anna and Cuno Amiet dedicated the present work to his wife Else. It is also executed with a fine brush in tempera on cardboard and has a similarly narrow colouristic spectrum and a comparable drawing character, but depicts the collector and friend in full-format en face. No further painted portraits of Miller were produced until 1919 (from: Müller/Radlach 1903.04).
