    Condition

    On Japan paper, folded back vertically at the left margin about 9 cm wide. With a minimal lightstruck and isolated small foxing spots. With remains of an old mounting on the back, slight printer's creases visible on recto and verso. At all in a very nice print quality

    Comments

    The print is also known under the title "Mann und Weib sich küssend" (Man and Woman Kissing. Gerd Woll points out that after the artist had brought all his printing blocks from Germany to Norway in the autumn of 1914, he made further prints of this subject in various colours, including two-colour, three-colour or four-colour prints, which, in contrast to Lassally's prints, have the feature that the woman's hair extends to the lower edge. Munch printed with birch wood, the wooden stick has been preserved in the Munch-Museet, Oslo

    Auf Japanpapier, dieses am linken Rand vertikal ca. 9 cm breit nach hinten umgefaltet. Mit einem minimen Lichtrand und vereinzelt mit kleinen Stockflecken. Rückseitig mit Resten einer alten Montierung, leichte Druckfalten sind recto und verso sichtbar. Insgesamt in sehr schöner Druckqualität

    Erläuterungen

    Das Blatt ist auch unter dem Titel "Mann und Weib sich küssend" bekannt. Gerd Woll weist darauf hin, dass der Künstler, nachdem er im Herbst 1914 all seine Druckstöcke von Deutschland nach Norwegen gebracht hatte, von diesem Sujet weitere Abzüge in verschiedenen Farben schuf, darunter zweifarbige, dreifarbige oder vierfarbige, die im Gegensatz zu den Drucken von Lassally das Merkmal aufweisen, dass die Haare der Frau bis an die untere Kante reichen. Gedruckt hat Munch mit Birkenholz, der Holzstock hat sich im Munch-Museet, Oslo, erhalten
