Very nice impression on soft wove paper (blotting paper), with at least 1.8 cm paper margin around the edge of the image. Minimal lightstruck. With mounting remnants on the back
The print belongs to the group of 13 woodcuts whose creation in the summer of 1917 on the Stafelalp, the artist's first summer in Davos, is considered certain. The woodcut was made after the visit of Henry van de Velde, the famous belgian architect and designer, to Kirchner on Stafelalp on 25 and 26 August. To the left of the portrait, parts of the Junkerboden are visible, which lies opposite the Längmatte on the left of the Landwasser. Kirchner wanted to depict the "Architect van de Velde" in this sheet with the white face area, in contrast to "Head van de Velde, dark - Black van de Velde Head" (Gercken 862), lot 81 of our auction this year, to which he gave the title "Gentleman van de Velde"
