    Comments

The painting "Chrysanthemums" from 1908 was created under the impression of van Gogh's expressive painting. The special features of the work are the transparent as well as impasto colours with their luminosity, which are particularly characteristic of van Gogh's works. In 1907, Richard Kisling acquired Vincent van Gogh's late double portrait "Les deux enfants" from 1890 on the recommendation of Cuno Amiet from an exhibition at the Künstlerhaus in Zurich. Kisling lent this work to Amiet for a whole year for study purposes. Giovanni Giacometti was certainly also able to study the work of van Gogh in Amiet's studio
