A pair of intimate lovers with a bouquet of flowers floats above Paris, on the left a violinist, the mystical animal, symbol of creativity, peers mischievously out from behind the lovers. A very inspired depiction in accentuated colours. Throughout his life, Paris was one of the most important places for Chagall to live and work. With the painting of the ceiling in the Opéra Garnier from 1963 to 1964, he also created one of the most impressive works there. The opera can also be seen in many works from this period; here it is on the right

Ein inniges Liebespaar mit Blumenstrauss schwebt über Paris, links ein Geiger, das mystische Tier, Symbol der Kreativität, schaut verschmitzt hinter den Liebenden hervor. Eine sehr inspirierte Darstellung in akzentuierten Farben gehalten. Paris war zeitlebens einer der wichtigsten Lebens- und Schaffensorte für Chagall. Mit der Ausmalung der Decke in der Opéra Garnier in den Jahren 1963–1964, entstand dort auch eines der eindrücklichsten Werke. Die Oper ist denn auch auf vielen Werken aus dieser Zeit zu sehen, so hier rechts im Bild
