Once again Chagall succeeds in capturing the circus as metaphor of life, using it to create his own world view. The female artist stands reverently below a bouquet of flowers. The artist himself is present twice in the picture, documenting the scene. The viewers become part of the open circus ring. A superbly colourful composition

Einmal mehr gelingt es Chagall, den Zirkus als Metapher des "Lebens" einzufangen und mit ihm ein eigenes Weltbild zu entwerfen. Die Artistin steht andächtig unter einem Blumenstrauss; der Künstler selbst ist doppelt mit im Bild als Dokumentarist der Szene anwesend. Die Betrachtenden werden Teil des offenen Zirkusrunds, eine wunderbar farbenprächtige Komposition
