Trubschachen 1857 - 1891 Florenz
circa 1880
Oil on cardboard
102x73.5 cm
Signed on the reverse upper right by the artist "Stauffer" and a text noted by another hand with information on the provenance of the work
Estate of Lydia Welti-Escher, Champel; Dr. P. Dreifuss, Geneva; Private collection Switzerland
Minimal craquelure in the lower left part of the image, colour rubbing through the frame at the margins. Cardboard bumped in the corners and pierced by nails at the edges due to an old mounting
According to the text written by a third party on the back of the painting, the work was created during the trip to Rome. However, it is more comparable to the painting "Buchenwald von Grosshesselohe" from 1879, which Stauffer painted in the Isar valley according to the letters to his parents
Um 1880
Öl auf Karton
102x73,5 cm
Nachlass Lydia Welti-Escher, Champel; Dr. P. Dreifuss, Genf; Privatsammlung Schweiz
