On strong wove paper (papier vélin). With slight light margins, small stain at left margin, brown stains on verso

The watercolour is a preparatory drawing for the woodcut of the same name from 1911 (cf. Stauffer 19). Here, in contrast to the woodcut, only two figures are depicted
