Frédéric Samuel Cordey was one of the fortunate people with a considerable private fortune, which allowed him a cherished independence throughout his life. His artistic work was influenced by the Impressionists and he became friends with Pierre-Auguste Renoir and Camille Pissarro. The country road depicted here connects two towns in the north-west of Paris, near which not only the artist but also Pissarro lived

Frédéric Samuel Cordey gehörte zu den glücklichen Menschen mit einem beträchtlichen Privatvermögen, welches ihm zeitlebens eine geschätzte Unabhängigkeit ermöglichte. Er liess sich in seinem künstlerischen Schaffen von den Impressionisten beeinflussen und freundete sich mit Pierre-Auguste Renoir und Camille Pissarro an. So verbindet auch die dargestellte Landstrasse zwei Ortschaften im Nordwesten von Paris, in deren Nähe nicht nur der Künstler, sondern auch Pissarro lebte
