This watercolour was painted on the occasion of the abdication of Ferdinand Hodler, who died on 19 May in Geneva, in the Basilica Notre-Dame on 21 May 1918

Das vorliegende Aquarell entstand anlässlich der am 21. Mai 1918 stattgefundenen Abdankung des am 19. Mai in Genf verstorbenen Ferdinand Hodler in der Basilica Notre-Dame
