Condition

On the original stretcher, in old nailing. In very good condition and fresh in colour. On the reverse of the stretcher noted in pencil by Oscar Miller "Vor ihrer Hochzeit schon / an Hanni geschenkt. / 22 Okt 17 / M."

Comments

The portrait of Anna Amiet, the artist's wife, painted mainly in red and blue, was given by the collector Oscar Miller to his daughter Hanni (1889-1957), who married Curt Blass (1881-1972), a long-time friend of Amiet, in 1917
