Comments

Pierre-Auguste Renoir painted numerous still lifes, not a few of which were with fish. The painting is from the artist's late work. Severely ill with arthritis, he sat in a wheelchair and had the brush tied to his hand because he could no longer hold it. The composition with the three fish lying on a cloth to the right nevertheless appears to have been created with sure brushstrokes and captivates with its delicate colouring

Erläuterungen

Pierre-Auguste Renoir malte zahlreiche Stillleben, von denen nicht wenige mit Fischen waren. Das Gemälde stammt aus dem Spätwerk des Künstlers. Schwer an Arthritis erkrankt, sass er im Rollstuhl und liess sich den Pinsel an die Hand binden, weil er ihn nicht mehr halten konnte. Die Komposition mit den drei nach rechts liegenden Fischen auf einem Tuch erscheint dennoch mit sicherem Pinselstrich geschaffen und besticht durch ihre zarte Farbgebung
