Private collection Germany
On thin brown paper (placemat). With tear nail holes upper right and small tear lower right. Fresh in colour and in very good condition
The work appears to be a study for the painting "Ozone I" (Jornod CR no. 275). The series "Ozon" is at the beginning of the sculptures with the same title, which were produced between 1957 and 1962 with the collaboration of Joseph Savina.
Le Corbusier fled to Ozone in the Pyrenees in 1940 before the invasion of the German troops, where he kept his head above water by selling watercolours. After the installation of the Pétain government in unoccupied France, he moved to Vichy and was commissioned to work on housing projects. The watercolour appears to have been completed in Vichy in 1941
