On strong watercolour paper on cardboard, acquired in this form by the artist from Lucien Lefebvre-Foinet in Paris. Minimal mat burn and slightly browned in the paper. In fine overall condition
After the definitive closure of the Bauhaus in Berlin in 1933, the couple Wassily and Nina Kandinsky emigrated to France. They move into a flat in Neuilly-sur-Seine near Paris. In autumn 1933, Kandinsky initially rented the apartment for only a year, as he wanted to wait for the political developments in Germany before returning there. Due to this uncertainty, he did not produce any works between August 1933 and February 1934. His first work in Paris is entitled "Start"
Like a "whip line", the black line dominates and breaks through the geometric composition of rectangular shapes and a circle. A wonderfully looped figure in front of an unstable structure

In schöner Gesamterhaltung
