Berlin 1983, Galerie Nierendorf, Hannah Höch - Collagen, Aquarelle, Gemälde, Zeichnungen aus sieben Jahrzehnten, pag. 20, reprod. no. 25
On brown paper, with a loss in the upper left corner, isolated with partly backed tears at the margins, the collaged papers at the outermost tips no longer fully adhesive. Overall in good condition
After her training at the Berlin Unterrichtsanstalt des Kunstgewerbemuseums, Hannah Höch designed wallpaper patterns for a manufacturer in Karlsruhe between 1916 and 1919. The present work is probably a wallpaper pattern design from this period. The title therefore refers not only to the depiction of a white swan in a pond, but also to the smallest unit of a pattern in the graphic field, a "repeat". Put together and repeated, these make up the ornament in fabrics and wallpapers

Insgesamt in guter Erhaltung
